“Beware Of Online Phone Records Scams!
I Can’t Believe The Hours I’ve Wasted On These So Called Cell Records & Search By Phone Programs……”
And if there is one thing I’ve learned it’s that you can’t always believe what companies claim on their sites. It’s ridiculous and I’m frustrated to be honest with you. That’s one of the reasons why I did this site. There are many reasons why people need to search public records by phone number.
For the Job…
Phone records are incredibly beneficial for a company. For instance, I work from home and have to hire people occasionally. When you work from home it’s harder to make sure people are doing their job reliably because you can’t see them. So, by doing reverse phone searches I can check people’s public records–court records, criminal, financial, and personal records–we can see patterns in their pasts that will give us a better chance of finding more reliable new hires. If you are bringing people into your office then you definitely want to know what type of person you are bringing into your environment.
So, I’m A Cheapskate…
I tried to do the Cheap/Free approach at first. It’s kind of funny actually to think of how much time I wasted. Well, not really!?! So picture this…here I am doing a reverse phone search on Google for this number that called me. Then, I think I found them. I click on the link and it’s another search box wanting me to search for the number all over again. So I do, and then they want me to purchase the record before I see anything. So, I keep looking and finally realize I’m not going to find zilch until I purchase one of these things. I went through about 10 of them before I finally found the data. Then, I start going through my list to get a refund. Do these companies even know what in the world customer service is????
And The Winner Is…(Drumroll please)
Anyway, that was a debacle and I learned the hard way. But, the site I found the data on was Net Detective. I was actually surprised because it was a fair price according to the other sites out there. I got Unlimited phone records searches, plus background checks, address histories, and all sorts of stuff. Which, by the way, helps a lot because some of those guys charge you up front then want to charge you every time you search. Sheesh! One of the other things I thought was really cool with Net Detective was that they gave me a phone number to call if I had trouble. So, I couldn’t find this one number I was looking for info on and wanted to see if there was a better way. Rather than telling me the better way they actually looked up the record for me! Is that cool or what??
Second Place Goes To…
In the runner-up spot, with very good customer care, great U.S. converage, and a big database is Complete Detective. I prefer the interface of Net Detective–seems a little easier to get around for a novice computer user. But between these two services, you really cannot go wrong.
There are lots of third place winners, too many to name here. You are welcome to search google for public records or public court records and go through the top 10 links you see. You can also look at the sponsored links on the side. But hey, don’t waste your time.
I’ve already done that so you don’t have to!
So, thanks for listening to me ramble on… Anyways, I hope you’ll find this helpful when it comes time to do some effective reverse phone records searches online.

Belle,
using Net Detective can you find out this info. I thought you had to have a legal reason to pull DMV etc information?
I received an inappropriate phone call on my home phone. We do not have caller ID and the number was blocked when I did *67. How do I find out who this person is?
Hi it’s *69 not *67 to find the number called
*69 is the correct answer, have a pen in hand for the number and then you can go to switchboard to find out whose number it is
this is not an official answer it is only my personal experience- but I have a LOT of personal experiences in this area.
sometimes when you *69 the message will say ‘the number of your last incoming call has been blocked” and then the phone hangs up. that is it. there is nothing you can do to get a number.
then that is it, there is nothing you can do to get the phone number.
but on occasion, and I don’t really know why or what circumstances allow them to do this, you get the same message as above BUT THEN you are given the option to push 1 and be connected to the caller who blocked their call. the phone company calls the number for you and you are put through immediately.
if you get repeat calls from someone some areas have call trace. i dont remember the numbers but its like *54 or 56? but it works like *69 you pay on a per call basis you dont need a monthly service to use it. anyway when you get the harrasing call, you hang up and push *whatever it is, and the call is traced by the phone company. you can not and will not get ANY information about the call but the recording should say, ‘the call has been traced,’ when four calls from the same telephone number have been traced, the police are notified.it costs like $4.00 per trace.
there used to be (dont know if it is still available) a service that you can add to regular service it was called individual call blocking or something like that. and if you got an innapropriate call all you had to do was hang up and push *whatever it is. and that phone number would be blocked from calling you ever again or until you enter an unlock code and the phone number you want to unblock.
(it was very useful in my situation in dealing with a drunken ex. who when sober i was ok with taking his calls.)
hope this helps
I have a question about this site. I’m try to find a person, that I haven’t see her 3 years ago (I miss her so much), my real question is if really help you find this site the current address, current phone number etc etc? I hope get you answer soon……..Thank you.
Osvaldo,
We are here to help! You can either try one of the people search tools mentioned above, or you can try to leave a “lost friends” request on the message board. Good luck!

Can I trace cell phone in Canada and receive full data(address and exact location etc)from US?
Hmmm. Good question, and I’ve never tried it!
Is anyone else here able to do it?
anyone… ?
anyone… ? ? ?
i want to look at actual phone records will it show me all incoming and outgoing calls.thank you
Charlene,
Good luck.
Good question. When people search for phone records, I think they generally are looking for background information and people records which they can pull from just a phone number. But your request is also very valid. I’m not sure if the services mentioned will do what you’re looking for. Have you tried the phone company? If it’s someone else’s account, you might not get it firsthand. I don’t know… never tried.

Charlene, the only way you can get what you’re looking for is 1. your name is on the bill or 2. you have a subpoena Post 9-11 phone and credit information is illegal to obtain unless you meet strict criteria that almost no one (private investigators included) qualify for.
Hey! i am 19 year old girl & i recently met a guy on facebook. he seem’s like a decent guy, & we’ve been talking on the phone. i’m from Missouri & he lives in Kentucky but he want;t to visit soon. Should i do a background check or something just to be safe. I know it’s scary these days with meeting people you don’t know. So i’m just curious as to what to do & what website to use?! Please help.. Thank you:]
Kili,
Great question. I just helped a friend run a background check on a guy she knew from high school and had rekindled a relationship with via Facebook. Meeting people online is so easy… I met my husband that way, no joke! But you absolutely have to be careful. Why not use an online tool to check him out? Give one of the tools above a try. If it doesn’t work out, you can still get a refund.
Best of luck and be careful girl!

Kili, you can search most state’s DOC records online. Google something like “KY Inmate search” and go from there. Some counties have great public access to court records and some have none.
Thank you Belle for your valuable information..I appreciate you more than you will ever know. Such a kind, loving, giving person..:) Michele
How do I know that this is a trusted website?
Meena,
That’s a very appropriate question. First of all, if you click this link–McAfee Site Advisor–you’ll see that this is site is rated GREEN for safety, Adware, and Spam by McAfee. What this means is I am not going to cause you any problems. Now as for earning your trust, I will leave that to my readers to comment on. So it’s open season! Anyone care to comment?
All I care about is spreading the tips and tricks that work for me. You can take them or leave them, but I do suggest you check them out. Thanks for posting!
