“Beware Of Online People Search Scams!
I Can’t Believe The Hours I’ve Wasted On These So Called People Search Sites……”
If there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you can’t always believe what companies claim on their sites. It’s ridiculous and I’m frustrated to be honest. That’s one of the reasons why I created this site.
Why Do People Need People Search?
Conducting people searches is incredibly beneficial for everyone. What if you’re dating online and want to see if someone’s telling the truth about their age? How ’bout screening your babysitter? Maybe you’re looking to find your old sweetheart and see if they’re married? There are many reasons why you’d want to pick up the following information on someone:
- Address (Do they really live where they claim to?)
- Phone Number (Can I actually call them?)
- Age / Date of Birth (What’s their Real Age?)
- Marital Status (Are they still single? MARRIED??)
- Estimated Income & Home Value (Do they have a job or own their own home?)

So, I’m A Cheapskate…
I tried to do the Cheap/Free approach at first. It’s kind of funny actually to think of how much time I wasted. Well, not really!?! So picture this…here I am doing a reverse phone search for this guy who just emailed me in response to a bookkeeping ad I posted. Then, I think I found him. I click on the link and it’s another search box wanting me to search for him again. So, I do and they want me to purchase before I see anything. So, I keep looking and finally figured out that I’m not going to find zilch until I purchase one of these things. I went through about 10 of them before I finally found the data. Then, I start going through my list to get a refund. Do these companies even know what in the world customer service is????
And The Winner Is…(Drumroll please)
Anyway, that was a debacle and I learned the hard way. But, the site I found the data on was Net Detective. I was actually surprised because it was a fair price according to the other sites out there. I got unlimited searches: search by name, search by email, search by address, search by phone, all UNLIMITED! Which by the way helps alot because some of those guys charge you up front then want to charge you everytime you search. One of the other things I thought was really cool with Net Detective was that they gave me a phone number to call if I had trouble. So, I couldn’t find this one person I was looking for info on and wanted to see if there was a better way. Rather than telling me the better way they actually looked up the record for me. Is that cool or what?

Second Place Goes To…
In the runner-up spot, with very good customer care, great U.S. converage, and a pretty good size database is Complete Detective. Between these two services, you really cannot go wrong.
There are lots of third place winners, but too many to name. You are free to search google and go through the top 10 links you see. But don’t waste your time… I’ve already done that and I’m here to help you out.
So, thanks for listening to me ramble on… Anyways, I hope you’ll find this helpful when it comes time to do some effective people searches online.

I have a question.I got married. She left me a couple of years later. We never got a divorce, as far as I knew. My mom’s lawyer told my mom who told me that a divorce was filed but without $250, he wouldn’t tell what happened to the filing. Almost 15 years later, my daughter tells me that she has talked to her mom and she is remarried. Can Net Detective help me find WHERE in the UNITED STATES my divorce papers ARE?

loans which i know nothing about have been taken out listing me as the co-signer. At a Bank which I did a lot of business. the alps have my SS# & that of another person -but their name is blacked out on each. How can I track down the person -using the SS#. I know it’s fraud because I didn’t sign it. Believe it to be a ex partner from back before 2000. her daughter worked at the bank which the loan came from & is now serving time for embezzelment. is there a site where i can put in a SS# & see if it matches her name or what name comes up?
Sheila,
It is my understanding that searching by SS# is unlawful. You can put the SS# into Net Detective and it will tell you the registration State, but by law it cannot go any further than that. I’m not sure, maybe someone reading this can do some extra digging for Sheila? Send me an email and I’ll connect you to her. consumer.warning.org@gmail.com.

hello bella first of all let me to you rock being navy mom is hard work. i have a question my mom is in the navy and we havent spoken in 7 years and i want to find her is any wany you can be of some heip.please let me know
Hello Joanna! I would really recommend you check out one of the sites above. For connecting with long lost friends and loved ones, they really do go a long way. I find a search usually opens up several more doors and leads to something I might not have expected to find. The outcomes are always different. But worth it. Good luck to you!
~ Belle
Haven’t joined yet, but bless you Belle, for saving me alot of grief, because just when I was ready to commit to a site, I found you. You are not going to believe me when I tell you that I woke up 3am from a dream and a navy man was on a bus when I was on it. And then I get on the computer and you tell me you are a navy wife”" that’s wild.
But then again so was my Father, retired Leutenant Commander.
What I really wrote you was to ask, how long am I commited to belong to this on my credit card, because I am on disability? If it’s a year for the low price I think I read then that’s fine, but after a year do I have to make a big deal and call and discontinue and write letters etc, because it sounds like alot of trouble to me instead of I just want to cancel??
Thank You Belle, Your Wonderful work!!!
Virginia, thanks for sharing that! As for the commitment, I totally understand you need to know that. It’s a one-time charge for Net Detective, and I believe it’s good for a full year or even perhaps 3 full years (??) !!! In either case, it’s plenty of time. And it’s just one charge, you won’t be billed multiple times. It’s not that kind of product.
Good luck!
~ Belle
I don’t want to pay for each search. Does Net Detective make me do this or is it unlimited? Thanks
Heather, with Net Detective you get unlimited searches. You don’t pay per search like some of the other sites out there. You even get unlimited searches (I think) for up to 3 years. It is very handy when you come across that certain someone you need to check out. I keep it open in my browser all the time because I’m, well, nosy!
Good luck. ~ Belle
Yep, you are right… 3 years unlimited searches is the current promotion they have going on.
I feel I am being scammed by a guy trying to sell me anti biotics. No lie Anti biotics. I don’t have a doctor but occassionally need these. The request goes through a licensed doctor so according to that state’s law, they are legal (I was a lawyer for years but still) How can I find the real deal on this guy
Well, a background check and criminal records search would be a good start. You would learn if this guy has a “checkered” past. But don’t forget of course, no news is also good news.
what if you only have a phone number (that is unpublished) and you want to find out who this is that keeps calling and not leaving messages? Can you look people up other ways besides their name with net detective?
Great question Beth. The answer is Yes, you can look up people by phone number and address. I use Net Detective for this all the time to figure out which marketing agencies are violating the Do Not Call list. Then I report them!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes.
~ Belle
unknown person leaves messages on my cell phone. Other than call them back, how do I find out who this is?
Donna, you need to do a reverse phone search using either Net Detective or something comparable. Best of luck!

im trying to help my husband find his father which he never met and all we have is his name basically know he was born in buffalo new york thats all. no ss #.
A question: I frequent online dating sites (e-harmony, chemistry, elite). Can the tools you mentioned help me choose who to date?
Vera, absolutely! If only everyone who dates online could check out their date’s real name, marital status!!, estimated income (what’s he/she worth??), and Real Age. I’m sure we’d not waste as much time and possibly even not suffer as much! Who else agrees? Great question!
~ Belle
Hello Belle - I am normally not one to leave comments such as this. But I wanted to thank you for the help. I was able to find out that the woman of my dreams… so I thought… was actually married and living a “Double Life” in another state.! I easily found her marital status inside Net Detective. I have used other tools but this one is the best. You saved me from making another terrble decision! All my best to your and your family!
T.J.
I’m glad you found the site helpful TJ. I’m also very glad you didn’t make a big mistake with the woman leading a double life! You just became your own Net Detective! Well done!
~ Belle
